Magic Theme Party Invitations
Sending great invitations by mail can make your guests feel special before the party even starts. You can either make your own invitations or send pre-made cards. Here are some ideas for both options:
Rabbit in a Hat Invitations — To make these invitations, cut out two identical top hat shapes from black construction paper and glue them around the bottom three edges to form a pocket. (We added a white stripe to this hat for an extra touch.) Now make a rabbit shape out of white construction paper. Write your party information on his body and leave his head and ears peeking out of the top. (You can often find pre-cut shapes for projects like this at your local craft store.)
Magic Wand Invitations — Purchase inexpensive magic wands for each of your guests. Write your party information on a decorative tag and attach it to each wand with ribbon. Add some fun magic party invitation wording, such as “Join Us For a Magical Celebration!” Mail these in padded envelopes or hand deliver them for an invitation and party treat all in one!
**General Invitation Tips** — If you choose to make your own invitations, don’t forget to include the date, location, and time of your event. It’s also helpful to put the host’s name, RSVP by date, and either your phone number or email.
You can always find lots of great online party invitations with a free RSVP manager at Evite,

Magic Theme Party Decorations
Create a magical atmosphere for your party with great decorations. Any combination of black, white, red, purple, and silver can come together nicely for a magic party color scheme. Incorporate these colors into your décor by mixing them up in your tableware, and also by using them in things such as balloons and streamers. There are also lots of amazing magic theme party supplies available to help pull it all together. Here are some ideas to help get you started:
Set a Magical Party Table — Start with a red table cover, and add black and white tableware. For your centerpiece, anchor a bouquet of star balloons in an upturned magician’s top hat. For some extra flash, add a spray of metallic stars and a small plush rabbit peeking out. Scatter playing cards and silver star confetti for a finishing touch.
Add Stars — Magic is about sparkle and flash, and stars can help create this feeling in your party decorations. Hang sparkly silver stars from the ceiling at different heights with fishing line. Use star balloons. Drape a star covered curtain across a doorway to create a stage for a magic show.
Create a Magical Atmosphere — Hang twinkle lights or consider buying or renting a fog machine for some mystical party ambience.

Magic Theme Party Activities
Hire a Magician — If you’re able, hire a magician to come and wow your guests with a magic show at your party. Here’s how to find a magician in your area: Check out The Magician Directory. This site lists magicians not only in every state of the US, but in every country in the world!
Learn Some Magic Tricks — If you don’t want to hire a magician, consider having a few tricks up your own sleeve to show or teach your party guests. About.com has a whole page dedicated to teaching some easy magic tricks. Here is a Youtube video where you can learn a magic card trick:
Make Some Balloon Animals — Another great activity you can do at a magic theme party is making balloon animals. Purchase a How to Make Balloon Animals Kit (or just some long, thin balloons if you already know how to do this), and during a quiet time at the party, call each child over to have a special balloon creation made just for him.
Balloon Between Your Knees Relay Race — In this race, divide your guests into two teams and line them up relay-style. Have each player race down and back holding a large balloon between his knees. He or she should then tag the next player in line. The first team with all its players back wins. (You might have a couple extra balloons on hand in case one breaks.)
Decorate Wands — Purchase a thick wooden dowel rod for each guest. Set up a craft table with markers (paint tends to be too messy for this craft), colored electrical tape, stickers, glue, glitter, and any other craft materials you think would be fun. Let your party magicians create their own magic wands.
Magic Wand Games — Once everyone has their own wand, you can use them for some fun party games. Try timing the kids to see who can balance their wand on the back of their finger for the longest time, or who can keep a balloon aloft using their wand.
Magic Rabbit Piñata — See what goodies magically appear from a cute rabbit in a hat piñata.
