Can’t get enough of Hollywood gossip and red carpet outfits? Host an Academy Awards party! This year, the Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, February 28th, so you have plenty of time to prepare. We just updated our Academy Awards party page and our Hollywood bash page to give you loads of Oscar party inspirations for your event. Each page features ideas for invitations, decorations, activities, and even themed menus to help you plan a party worthy of a major award!

Over the years, we have done a number of Hollywood themed party pages. This year we thought we would highlight a few of our favorites, but don’t stop here…be sure to wander around our website and blog for lots of party inspirations based on the American silver screen.

INVITATIONS — When we think of great party invitations, Tiny Prints is our go to favorite. Here is a new Oscar party invitation they have this year: Oscar's Honors

DECORATIONS — Decorations for this party theme should be in classic Hollywood colors: black, white, gold, and red. a red carpet runner leading to your door is a fun way to welcome your guests. Another idea is to give each guest his or her name on a Hollywood sidewalk star. Inside, set out your most sparkly tableware to create an elegant atmosphere. Take a look at the ideas on our black and white party theme page for some suggestions.

ACTIVITIES — Of course watching, and commenting on, the actual Academy Awards show will probably be your main event of the evening, but why not liven it up by having all your guests fill out award night ballots or play a drinking game where everyone has to take a drink when they catch an actor ding something cliché in his acceptance, such as mentioning his kids, crying, or kissing everyone around him. (You can be as creative as you’d like with the categories.)

FOOD — Champagne and an assortment of finger foods are great for an Oscar party. If you would like something a little more extravagant, check out our Academy Awards party page, where we give you a full dessert menu to create a buffet which honors something from each of this year’s nominees. 3. I LOVE watching the Oscars, but I tend to do it alone! I go watch all the best picture nominees in the weeks leading up to the big night. Then I put the kids to bed and savor it. But I love the idea of an Oscar party!

  4. I’ve always wanted to host an Oscar party…Just had my first Ugly Christmas Sweater party in December and that was really fun! Love that you have so many ideas! #SITSBlogging Stopping over from http://www.welcometograndcentral.com

  5. I love parties! I love these ideas! I’ve read a couple of your party posts but I love the read carpet idea here. It kind of makes me giggle, which is probably why I like it so much. I’d feel a little silly having a red carpet running up to my door. :p
