When the weather outside is frightful a winter wonderland theme party can be just delightful! Check out these ideas for celebrating the sparkle of the season with your friends at this grown up winter party!
Winter Wonderland Invitations
Invitations set the tone for your party and can make your guests feel special before the celebration even starts. A good idea when making invitations is to have them match your overall theme colors. For a winter wonderland theme you might consider using white, silver and blue.
To make your own invitations you can use a silver gel pen and write the party information on icy blue paper. Be sure to include some snowflake confetti or glitter in the envelope to give it some winter sparkle!
Here is a fun idea for wording on a winter wonderland theme invitation:
“You’re invited…are you listening? In my house the snow is glistening. It’s a beautiful site, we’re drinking tonight. Come party in a winter wonderland”

Winter Wonderland Party Decorations
Some great theme colors for this adult winter party theme are white, silver, and icy blue. Here are some ideas for party decorations that can be great additions to your celebration:
Tie white gossamer or tulle bows on the backs of chairs.
Create a soft cozy effect on a table with votives surrounded by white feather boas.
If you have a fireplace, make sure you have a cozy fire going for your guests.
Play smooth jazz music, or other soft instrumental favorites to set the mood.
Creating a Winter Wonderland Tablescape:
First, cover your food and beverage tables with nice white tablecloths.
Scatter silver glittered snowflakes and artificial snow down the center of the table.
For centerpieces, you could use a round mirror with a cluster of candles of various heights.
Fill glass bowls with water and add floating snowflake candles on top.
Make arrangements of white flowers in a silver or glass bowl, or create a large centerpiece with lighted white branches.
Small crystals, snowflakes or little round mirrors can be hung with transparent filament to create a sparkling effect.
Because you probably want to create an elegant effect with white and sparkly silver, we suggest using your “good stuff” when it comes to serving ware. China, crystal stemware, crystal and silver serving pieces are all elegant options. If your guest list is larger or you want to keep things a little more casual, any of these party supplies would look pretty at a winter wonderland theme party.

Hot Buttered Rum
- 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- Pinch ground cloves
- Pinch salt
- Bottle dark rum
- Boiling water
In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Refrigerate until almost firm. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture into 12 small mugs. ***Great food and drinks can really make a party memorable. Depending on the size of your guest list and the size of your budget you might chose to offer a sit down dinner, a buffet style dinner, appetizers and drinks, or drinks and dessert.
***It is easiest if your bar area is set up so guests can serve themselves. Beer, champagne and wine can be put on ice. After all, a large decorative tub of ice fits nicely with this snowy adult winter party theme.
If your party is for the over 21 crowd, you might even add an ice luge for serving cocktails. These can be both decorative and lots of fun!
Here is an idea for a dessert that is sure to be a hit! We found it at Cooking Light Magazine.
Cherries in the Snow Dessert
- 1 (8-ounce) tub of fat-free cream cheese
- 1 cup of sifted powdered sugar
- 1 (12-ounce)carton of frozen reduced-calorie whipped topping, thawed
- 8 cups (1-inch) of cubed angel food cake
- 1 (20-ounce) can of light cherry pie filling
Beat the cream cheese at medium speed with a mixer until smooth. Gradually add the sugar, beating until blended. Gently fold in the whipped topping.
Place half of the cake cubes in a large glass bowl; top with half of the cheese mixture. Spread half of the cherry filling over the cheese mixture. Repeat layers with the remaining cake cubes, cheese mixture, and cherry filling. Cover and chill.
