Summer Themed Cupcakes

7 great ideas for making summer themed cupcakes

Summer is coming! Are you planning a special celebration, barbecue or pool party? Here are 7 amazing summer themed cupcakes that are sure to make any summer get together more fun!

Goldfish Cupcakes

How to make goldfish cupcakesAren’t these fun? We saw these at Where is the Laugh Track. To make them all you need to do is frost your favorite flavor of cupcake in blue icing (Pillsbury makes colored icing now so that’s even easier!) and use some Goldfish crackers (amazingly, these now come in lots of sweet flavors such as cupcake, brownie and French toast). Add confetti sprinkles or nonpareils for the bubbles.

Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

These ice cream cone cupcakes are another fun and easy summer themed cupcake idea.  To make them, just prepare your favorite cupcake mix like you normally would (lining the tin with paper baking cups). Before putting the cupcakes into the oven, stick a flat topped ice cream cone into each muffin cup. Bake as directed. When the cupcakes come out of the oven, allow them to cool, remove the paper liners, and frost using your favorite icing, sprinkles, and of course, a cherry on top!

Umbrella Cocktail Cupcakes

Cowboy Hat Cupcakes

I think these would be great at a barbecue or a western themed party. Use a Pringle chip, a gumdrop, and red rope licorice for the hat on top of your favorite frosted cupcake.

Sunshine Cupcakes

Here is another cheery summer themed cupcake that would actually be great at any time of year! To make it just frost your cupcake yellow, use mini chocolate chips for the eyes, red rope licorice for the smile, and candy corns for the sun’s rays. Guaranteed to brighten anyone’s day!

Octopus Cupcakes

These funny fellows are from Family Fun Magazine. They are made from gummy worms, gum drops, Wilton candy eyes (held on with icing) and a Wilton black food writer for the smiles.

Barbecue Grill Cupcakes

We also found these cupcakes at Family Fun.  We did a full blog post about how to make them.  Click here for barbecue grill cupcake directions.
